“Miam miam” was probably one of the first French phrases that I learned that actually stuck in my head instantly when I heard it. Not quite sure why, but perhaps because the pizza unit in French class seemed to be perhaps one of the longest and memorable in grade five. But that aside, the phrase came in handy this past weekend when I went to the Porte de Versailles expo center to check out this year’s Salon du Chocolat.
The Salon du Chocolat in Paris is the real deal; vendors with great products, samples to be had, seminars to be attended, and spectacles to be seen (ahem, chocolate fashion show). On a side note, the one in New York, though, costs far more and has a lot less to offer. Anyway, I started the day at noon and only found it possible to pull myself away from the chocolate proffering aisles only after having spent five hours there.
Now, one would probably think that I would tire myself with all this chocolate, but surprisingly, that wasn’t the case. Amidst the chocolate vendors were refreshers of Baileys (with a cup of coffee for afternoon guests), liqueurs, and wine, which provided just the needed boost to keep on wandering. And perhaps one of the most interesting products to be had was the chocolate infused Vino Cacao, which, unfortunately, is only sold online.
Whoever thought that 12€ could bring about such a perfect day?
